Our story

How We Got Here

  1. 1948Shreveport

    Where It All Began

United Tile got its start in Shreveport in 1948 as a tile contractor. After the war, families across Louisiana were building new homes, and our crews set the tile in their kitchens, bathrooms and entryways.

Those early jobs taught us what still matters most: good materials, careful work and standing behind every job we do.

  2. 1980sLevy Street

Levy Street and the Wholesale Side

In the 1980s we moved to Levy Street and opened our wholesale side, so builders, contractors and installers could buy their tile from us as well as hire us to set it.

Out front, a hand-painted sign said it all: “Ceramic Tile for Less.” Then one day a new banner went up: “We’re moving!”

Weathered “Ceramic Tile for Less” sign with the United Tile phone number on a metal building on Levy Street.United Tile Sales building on Levy Street with blue awnings and a “We’re moving!” banner.
  3. 2007Fern Loop

A Design Center Built Around You

In 2007 we moved from Levy Street to the Design Center on Fern Loop and built the business around design: a bright showroom of arches and columns where our designers could help customers put a whole room together.

It’s also when we added flooring of every kind and stone countertops, so the floor, the counters and the tile could all be chosen in one place.

  4. 2012

    Cabinets Join the Lineup

In 2012 we bought a cabinet company and brought cabinets into the showroom. Now a kitchen or bath could be planned from the cabinets up, with the countertops, backsplash and floor chosen right alongside them.

Our cabinet displays: walls of KraftMaid Vantage door samples in painted colors and wood stains, a hardware wall, and a dark cabinet island with two stools.
  5. 2016

    Our Own Stone Shop

In 2016 we opened our own stone fabrication shop. Granite, quartzite and quartz slabs are cut, shaped and finished by our own team, so we look after the quality and the schedule from the slab to your finished countertop.

We’ve kept investing in it ever since, with bigger, more precise saws and a slab gallery right inside our building.

  6. 2019

    Shower Glass and Mirrors

In 2019 we bought a glass company and added shower doors and mirrors. That made one more piece of the bathroom we could design, build and install ourselves.

  7. 2020777 Benton Kelly Drive

Bringing It All Under One Roof

By 2020 our showroom, stone shop, cabinets and glass were spread across different buildings. So we went looking for one place big enough for all of it, and found an old warehouse at 777 Benton Kelly Drive.

Instead of tearing it down, we took it back to its bones and rebuilt from there. We saved the old brick and the long rows of timber trusses overhead, poured new concrete, and framed a steel arch over a new wall of glass out front.

Then every team moved in together: design, sales, estimating, fabrication, glass, the warehouse and the crews. With everyone working on your project just down the hall from each other, things move faster, nothing gets lost between departments, and you get one team from start to finish.

  8. Come See It for Yourself

Today it all comes together at 777 Benton Kelly Drive: the showroom and our designers, the slab gallery, the stone shop, cabinets, glass, the warehouse and the crews who install it all. Walk in, look around, and see your project take shape.
